I have been studying painting for about fifteen years, since I was in high school. Most of the work I've done over the years has been representational. Since 2002, each of my paintings has been made on a small scale, with dimensions ranging from half an inch to twelve inches.
The focus of the work is light. I am also very interested in architecture, and the way human made structures look in various lighting conditions. The people, places and things depicted in my paintings are all very close to me. By painting them on the small scale, I hope to draw audiences closer in order to better communicate my own experience.
My main influences are the teachers I've had the privilege of studying under, and the artists I've been lucky enough to work alongside.
